Bella Heathcote did some crazy eye makeup! And while we’re unsure why everyone took “punk” to mean “florals,” we think her crazy eyeliner looks good.
We appreciate that the models were more daring than the everybody else. But “sheer panels on a tea length dress” aren’t anymore punk than the rest of what we’ve seen. Carolyn Murphy always looks beautiful, beyond that.
Greta Gerwig is the first on the red carpet with a verging-on-authentic punk hair/makeup look. Go Greta!
Heidi Klum didn’t even bother to find out the theme.
Jamie King looks nice, right? We’re not sure the garland makes sense, but all that lace is pretty and it’s nice seeing menswear-inspired stuff at the Met Gala.
Kate Mara‘s dress is so odd!
But we are not against odd this evening. We are highly in favor of anything remotely odd tonight.
This dress is half in favor of existing, half really unsure what it wants in life. Kirsten Dunst looks appropriately confused.
Solange Knowles in Kenzo.
Ashley Olsen wore… a caftan? Awesome color on her, though.
Look at that! Coco Rocha took the theme seriously and won–sure, in any other context, this look would be pure Crazy Town. But at the Costume Institute Gala’s clueless honoring of punk, we’d say Coco just made the best dressed list.
