Doctor Prescribes Blowjobs For Patient To Desensitize Gag Reflex

Have you ever had a camera shoved down your throat? Let me tell you, it is not fun if you have a sensitive gag reflex (to be fair, I woke up during my procedure so I guess I’m biased). However, a doctor in Sacramento seems to feel that being nervous about having an upper-gastrointestinal endoscopy is just hilarious – and that recommending oral sex to his patients is somehow appropriate. (Pro-tip: It is not.)

An unnamed patient went to Dr. J. Peter Zegarra to discuss her tentativeness about having the procedure done since she has a very reactive gag reflex, stating she did not want to have the procedure done as a result of her sensitivity. In response, Zegarra said to the woman in front of her husband, “She should be practicing twice a week on her husband by giving him (oral sex) to address her gagging reflex.”

According to Cassandra Hockenson, with the California Medical Board, Zegarra was way out of bounds.

“This constituted unprofessional conduct, and so this is a message that this probably wasn’t appropriate. A more appropriate response should have come with regards to dealing with her gag reflex issues.”

Hockenson also mentioned that she was happy the woman came forward, something I’m really glad she stated since it is so important for people to report inappropriate behavior by people who are supposed to be professionals overseeing our health and wellness (and, actually, anybody else). As a result of the woman’s complaint, the doctor has been reprimanded. Boosh!

sweet jesus people need to chill out, its not like he suggested she give him a blowjob, and he wasn’t being heteronormative as her husband was with her, she was obviously old enough that the suggestion was not inapropriate… so what is the problem. Was it slightly inappropriate yes, is it also pretty funny, hell yes. I would be laughing if my dr said this
