Dior Homme seemingly needed a smoldering face that never, ever moved. So they chose Robert Pattinson! Why did they pick him? Well, seemingly on the basis of the fact that he’s great at playing at playing vampires or sociopaths, two things that people definitely want to emulate all the time. (To be fair, emulating a vampire isn’t a bad idea if you are a sociopath, and I guess they are both supposedly attractive).
“The House of Dior is delighted to announce that actor Robert Pattinson is to be the new face of Dior Homme fragrance. He has since proven the scope of his acting talents by choosing films as varied as Remember Me …, Water for Elephants … in which he starred alongside Reese Witherspoon, or with his role as Bel-Ami, the famous Maupassant character,” Dior gushed of the actor in a statement.”
According to Vogue:
The actor was first rumoured to be starring in a Dior campaign back in 2012, but the brand refused to disclose any information about the upcoming partnership.
One of their last faces was Jude Law. I guess, to be fair Jude Law has gone from kind of smirking at everyone in the sexy, Harrison Ford type way he did in Alfie to… looking really sleazy in everything. So, yes, they did need a new one! But I swear that Pattinson’s only facial expression is snarling a bewildered way. I don’t know. Maybe he’ll smirk a little bit? It seems like the people who buy Dior Homme like that.
