You know how Ryan Gosling is really, really, ridiculously good looking? Well, so does everybody else, and apparently, some other guys want in on the action. “The action” being “Ryan Gosling’s facial structure, as per genetics dictated.” In fact, a fellow named Nicholas Ryan has spent $5,000 on his desire to look like Ryan Gosling!
Ryan is an aspiring actor (because of course he is) living in Los Angeles (because of course he is) who wanted his jaw to look more like Gosling’s. He wound up seeing Dr. Tim Neavin, a plastic surgeon who assists in making people look more like their celebrity idols, a practice I strongly advise against and am rather perplexed by.
“The patient has some deficiencies,” said the kind Dr. Neavin, “so we built those areas out to give him that squared-off jaw Ryan Gosling made famous.” So, did it work?
Eh, I don’t see it. Like, at all.
But according to Ryan –Â Nicholas Ryan, that is — people have already commented on how, uh, Goslingesque he appears.
“I went to a pool party this week, like we do here in LA, and this girl came up to me and she said, ‘you have a very Ryan Gosling look to you.’ I couldn’t believe it!” said Ryan. “After all the stuff I had gone through, it was amazing.”
Again, I am skeptical. To be fair, I’m skeptical of anybody who strings together the words, “like we do here in LA,” so perhaps I’m just slightly biased against him. Overall, though, I think this whole “spending money on looking like famous people” thing is absurd. Those people’s faces were made one way; paying $5K for a jawline or nose or lips that will look totally different on your face with your existant bone structure could result in something completely different than you desired. Of course, it’s your face and your money, so do whatcha want; just know that I am silently judging you for not even trying to get surgery to pull off this kinda bone structure.
