Daily Video Picks: This Nontraditional Great Gatsby Cocktail Is Heavy On “Old Sport” Seasoning

Now at The Gloss, we’re compiling a list of our favorite internet videos each day, to distract you for a few minutes in the afternoon. Enjoy!

The Gloss Top Video Pick:

1. “Cheers, Old Sport” To This Great Gatsby Cocktail

Leonardo DiCaprio may still be crying over the “meh” response to The Great Gatsby, so collect his tears in order to create this cocktail (that clearly is a joke and not actually meant to be ingested) inspired by the film. Do you think Leo would smugly toast with this in hand? I actually think the secret ingredient is to clink glasses with him before you imbibe (but again, don’t do that). (via Huffington Post)

2. I Can’t Stop Being Confused By “We Can’t Stop” (NSFW)

Just what is any of this happening in (professional twerker?) Miley Cyrus’ video? Also, why is a song about not being able to stop a slow jam? Anyway, Crushable summed up the experience perfectly: “There are things in this video I don’t think anyone was supposed to see, and I’m concerned for my safety.” Isn’t this exactly the kind of video you want to watch now?! Just don’t say you weren’t warned.

3. What If Dates Had Running Commentary? (Besides Inside Your Head)

This makes for the first time I have ever watched the commentary on anything! We’ve recently shared some helpful date etiquette, and while I do think it’s unfair to call out a guy for agreeing to split a check, I think there is something a bit tasteless by checking if your date is paying with counterfeit money (but then again, perhaps I am just asking to get ripped off by dating a counterfeiter). (via CollegeHumor)

4. Gaby Hoffman Returns In Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus Trailer (NSFW)

I have watched Now and Then approximately hundreds of times and I like to think that I was a Sam, so I feel a special kinship to Gaby Hoffman. Well, she’s back in this movie that picked up directing honors at Sundance. Michael Cera is also in it and the title is a little wonky, but again, I’m stoked about Gaby Hoffman. (via Vulture)

5. Stephen Colbert Honors His Mom

Okay – let’s just switch gears here a little bit to wrap things up. This is definitely a more somber pick, but still a very worthwhile watch. Comedian Stephen Colbert’s mother passed away last week, and last night he offered this on-air tribute to her, providing a celebration of one woman’s life, love and lasting impact on others. It’s a nice, human moment that should remind us all not to take our own mothers and everyone else important to us for granted.
