Update: Men Like Breasts, Sometimes Women

Are you very curious about what men think of your breast size? Would you be surprised to learn that some men like large breasts, while others like small breasts? Luckily some intrepid scientists used science to finally give us some definitive answers, once and for all, about this complex and mysterious subject.

In a recent study published in Archives of Sexual Behavior, researchers found that 32.7 percent of the participants rated medium-sized breasts as “most attractive,” 24.4 percent preferred large, 19.1 percent preferred very large, 15.5 percent small and 8.3 percent very small.

It would have been more helpful to clarify actual bra sizes, given that “medium-sized” is pretty vague. These results don’t seem particularly earth-shattering — some men like small breasts and some men like large breasts and everybody loves breasts.

However, that’s not all she wrote in Archives of Sexual Behavior. In addition to checking out some bods, the subjects were asked a series of questions to quantify their “sexist attitudes and tendency to objectify women.”

Results also showed that larger female breasts were significantly associated with a greater tendency to be sexist, to objectify women, and also to be hostile towards women.

These results, at the very least, confirm a correlation that we can all say is anecdotally true: if a man puts a huge premium on breast size above, say, a personality, he’s a huge pig.

It seems like every month a different sex journal is coming out with new statistics telling us what breast size men are attracted to. How about instead of asking men to rate boobs, we research, I don’t know, what’s that bad thing that happens to boobs when men aren’t rating them? Oh, breast cancer. Or, here’s a notion! Let’s get to the bottom of the great penis debate that multitudes of sex journals out there ignore. What size penis do women prefer? Somebody show me a book of penises, right now. (No, wait, that would be ridiculous, wouldn’t it?)

It seems like there’s a bit of a logic leap here. Just because a guy prefers larger breasts doesn’t mean that he places a higher value on the breast size. Now, what it does say is that men who prefer larger breasts tend to be more sexist. It’s a bit more subtle statement and it explains why large breasted women so often experience discrimination and sexist comments.
