Wimbledon Champ, Marion Bartoli, Didn’t Deserve To Win Because She’s A ‘Fat Ugly Smelly Slut’

marion bartoli Wimbledon championAnd so the world turns and yet another day comes in which a woman’s success is overshadowed by her looks. What a beautiful world in which we live, huh?

If you’re not following Wimbledon, you may have missed that French tennis player, Marion Bartoli, won earlier this week. As with any professional tennis player, becoming a Wimbledon champ is a huge deal. It’s the result of years of hard work, effort beyond belief, and never giving up on following a dream — but as intelligent people, we already know that, so I’ll quit insulting you.

However, instead of her success being praised when Bartoli won, what seemed to be the major concern for a lot of assholes out there, are her looks. You know, because she’s so fat and ugly, and all. No one likes fat and ugly, you guys.

After kicking the ass of German Sabine Lisicki, a tall blonde with looks that seem to be much more pleasing to the eye, the hatred began. Twitter was all a flutter of disgusting comments that made one really question, who the fuck are these people, and the how the hell were they raised to be so narrow-minded in their thinking process?

And on and on went the tweets of hate speech about her looks, her body, her French heritage, and the fact that she’s a lesbian. Obviously, who she goes to bed with has everything to do with her athletic ability. I mean, obviously!

Some dude on BBC Radio 5 Live named John Inverdale even decided to join in the mockery of this woman by saying, “Do you think Bartoli’s dad told her when she was little ‘you’re never going to be a looker?’”

What the fucking fuck?

It is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but what’s even more true is that you can’t dispute talent, and you shouldn’t shit on it just because the winner doesn’t fall into what YOU think is beautiful. Bartoli’s looks have nothing to do with whether she won or lost, and definitely have nothing to do with whether or not she was “deserving” of that win.

When Inverdal’s comments reached Bartoli (the comment, he later apologized for, of course), her response was eloquent and to the point:

“It doesn’t matter, honestly. I am not blonde, yes. That is a fact. Have I dreamt about having a model contract? No. I’m sorry. But have I dreamed about winning Wimbledon? Absolutely, yes.”

Where’s Inverdal’s Wimbledon championship? Exactly. What have the trolls on Twitter have to show for themselves and their lives? Yeah, exactly, yet again. Once we start honestly believing that only the best looking deserve to win and come out on top, we completely fail at life, humanity and everything else. Everything.

sorry, i had nothing more articulate to add. but i read this after reading the deadspin piece about Oday Aboushi. i am not a fan of people today.

I saw some people mention that article on Twitter last night — I’m going to read it NOW!

First off screw the haters. Secondly she is not ugly. Ugh people make me want to just hide in my house.

      She’s adorable, right?

After listening to Bartoli do interviews and watching her play during Wimbledon fortnight, I’ve developed a bit of a crush on her. She’s funny, warm, animated, cute and very smart off the court, and on it she turns into this fearless, always-in-motion two-handed warrior pulling off some outrageous reflex cross-courts and drive volleys. It’s actually a little tricky sometimes to merge the two images together into the same person. On court she’s usually frowning in concentration, swishing between points, pumping her fist, looking totally focused, slightly severe and mildly furious. Off the court she’s absolutely adorable and always smiling, giving interesting and witty answers to questions, and perfectly pretty. I mean, not that it matters to anyone in the context of the sport, but she’s pretty darn sexy: she seems like she’d be terrific fun to have dinner with.

    Ugh.
she’s good at tennis. she won. she deserves it more than anyone else. the end.

Omg I didn’t even know this. Her looks don’t matter at all but I actually do find her pretty. Plus the woman is charming and has a genuine, adorable smile.

And what kind of an asshole checks how they look while they are playing? Honestly, a lot of tennis players who do have a model contract look awful while they play. With all the sweating, weird expressions on their faces, muscle spasms … they definitely don’t lok their best on the court.

I have to admit that I didn’t even think about her looks before this article. :) I even had to google some pics to see why the hell they hate her looks so much. And the resul is just like with any other tennis player – she looks much better on pics that aren’t taken during matches.

But who wants to see a player who screams in the middle of a match “Stop the game! I messed up my hair/make up, I need to fix it!”?
What the hell anyone’s looks have to do with their performances?
