Red Carpet: Jennifer Lawrence Tried A Crop Top At Comic Con

Celebrities are really into the crop top trend and–while we have a hard time seeing anything but misguided ’90s revivalism–some of them are doing it to great effect. Zoe Saldana, for example, looked like a modern day Audrey Hepburn while promoting Star Trek in Berlin. More recently, Olivia Wilde stopped by the ESPY Awards last week and tried the trend in a leather version. On the less successful side, Glee‘s Naya Rivera wore an explosion of glitter to the Hangover II premiere and Selena Gomez is running around town in tropical bras.

The awesome and talented Jennifer Lawrence has been taking a number of fashion risks lately–ever since she was announced as a Dior face, she’s been hitting the red carpet in tricky runway looks… with mixed results. Earlier this month, she wore the weirdest Dior pants ever to attend the label’s couture show.

Over the weekend, while promoting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire at Comic Con, she broke out of her Dior habit and tried a Proenza Schouler crop top:

The look is Resort 2014–and we’re on the fence. It’s definitely a more successful look than the Dior pants (and other attempts at crop tops), but that a-line skirt seems stiff and awkward. And those fussy lace Nicholas Kirkwood slingbacks don’t make much sense with all the sleek modern stuff above her ankles. The hair and makeup are great, per usual, though. Thoughts?

I like it! I really like all those pieces separate, but they’re not horrible together.
