Miley Cyrus is at it again. When she’s not making (very) thinly-veiled reference to MDMA and cocaine use in pop songs, she’s telling reporters how much she loves smoking weed. The singer–a longtime celebrity stoner with proof of such littering the internet–would like to clarify her position on marijuana use. Namely: that it’s great, not as bad as drinking and something about Bob Marley being like Mother Teresa?
“When I smoke, I don’t get that sick feeling I get when I drink, or that anger rising up,” she told Australia’s Style magazine. “There’s a reason Bob Marley was like some kind of musical Rasta Mother Teresa.”
Back in June, she also told Rolling Stone:
“I think alcohol is way more dangerous than marijuana – people can be mad at me for saying that, but I don’t care. I’ve seen a lot of people spiral down with alcohol, but I’ve never seen that happen with weed.”
We’re originally from the fertile crescent of marijuana (Northern California) and therefore don’t really understand why anyone would have a problem with something so benign–we are also inclined to agree that alcohol is more dangerous. However, the claim that people don’t “spiral down” with weed is a specious one–it just takes the less destructive form of dabbling in Eastern philosophy, Workaholics marathons and Facebook status updates about how excited you are for Burning Man.
