Definitely strange, though over 11,000 people seemed to agree with her sentiment. Now, at the time, this tweet was definitely strange, but it did not really indicate the kind of mental illness she has apparently exhibited enough to have a mandatory hold keeping her in the hospital. So, when Drake was asked about her for an interview with XXL magazine, I was surprised at how he responded to their prompt.
I don’t even know who that is doing that or what that’s about. If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing. It’s obviously a behavioral pattern that is way bigger than me. Whoever is behind it, whether it’s her or somebody else, they know people are paying attention so they keep it going.
Of course, it’s not just Drake. It’s Nick Cannon penning a lengthy open letter that the Internet would see long before Bynes; it’s Ashley Benson Instagramming a facial expression to mock Bynes not two days after she was admitted to the hospital; it’s Lance Bass using her name in an interview to garner attention, as though he had any idea more than the rest of us what was going on.
I get it: Drake never asked to be part of this whole ordeal. He literally did nothing to invite himself into it. It’s honestly not fair for anybody to have been asking him these questions, in my opinion, because they’re uncomfortable and, frankly, inappropriate. Maybe when he did the interview, there was barely anything going on with Bynes publicly yet. Nevertheless, I wish he had simply skipped it and moved on (yes, you can do that with interviewers when you are a very, very big celebrity). The less negativity directed toward Bynes at this time, the better.
