Although she was supposed to attend court today where her parents are trying to win “temporary conservatorship over her affairs,” her doctors decided that Bynes wasn’t well enough to leave the hospital. If her parents are granted control over her finances, it will hopefully put an end to Bynes’ new obsession with plastic surgery — at least for the moment.
The emergency hearing was conducted at the hospital where the doctors’ requests to have the 5150 psychiatric hold extended for 30 more days were granted, citing a law that allows doctors to do so if the patient is “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder.”
I think we all need to remind ourselves that Amanda has only been in the hospital for two weeks now. Two weeks isn’t long enough to determine exactly what sort of mental illness from which she is suffering — if one at all — or what medicines will be the best fit for her. Finding the perfect medication is a trial and error process, and sadly, can sometimes even result in setbacks for the patients because there is no perfect method in discovering the best meds to put the body and mind at peace.
As someone who’s suffered from a mental illness for the majority of my life, I can attest to the fact that the hardest part is getting the medication correct. It’s not something that can be done in a week, two weeks, or even, sometimes an entire month. It takes time. It’s only been in the last few years, that I’ve found a combination of drugs that work for me. There’s also no guarantee that what works now, will still work the same way 10 years from now.
We’re all still hoping for a good ending to all of this, and that during this extended hospital stay, Bynes can get back on her feet again.
Now if only we could get her celebrity “friends” to quit using her as a means to get attention, that would be great! But the problem is when it comes to these sort of media sensations, everyone has their own two cents. And I guess this was mine.
