The Olsens Made Affordable Clothes, But You Can’t Have Them

Olsens fast fashion

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have finally signed on to produce some low-priced fashion, but none of us are going to be able to get it because it’s exclusively for the lucky people of Norway and Sweden.

The Olsen twins front one of the most highly regarded celebrity fashion lines, but their chic basics come with a maddening price tag. (The Row’s $50,000 backpacks are a highlight.) A fast-fashion collab would likely be quite popular, but until now they’ve managed to remain all fancy and inaccessible.

Instead, they teamed up with Scandinavian retailer Bik Bok for a limited collection called MK & A Olsen. The goods have already gone up for sale on the retailer’s website, but it won’t ship them to you and rubs it in a bit.

“Hi!” it enthuses. “You’ve reached our EU site where you cannot purchase our goods, however if you are from Norway or Sweden you can select your country at the top of the page and start shopping!”

The MK & A Olsen fast fashion collection for Bik Bok has a bit of a 90s grunge aesthetic, but the overall look is more like the Row than Elizabeth and James light, with lots of very basic T-shirts and blocky lambswool and angora sweaters. There’s even a cropped lambskin biker jacket with quilted sleeves. A lot of the pieces are marked by a gold zipper detail. The prices range from $33 for a T-shirt to $669 for a limited-edition fur and leather motorcycle jacket.

“We feel the collection reflects our personal style and will connect with the Scandinavian girl,” Mary-Kate Olsen said on the brand’s website.

“We’ve enjoyed the design process with the Bik Bok team and are excited to visit Oslo and Stockholm to launch the first of three collections in August,” Ashley said.

If you really love them, don’t give up hope. There’s always eBay.
