So I was going to make this a guessing game, like “Which Barely Recognizable Pop Star Is On The Cover Of V‘s September Issue?” but Lady Gaga‘s takeover of this issue has already been well-documented, so it would have been way too easy.
On the first of four covers of the September issue of V Magazine, Lady Gaga shows off her newly “made under” style, which involves brown hair, a sequined jacket, a partially exposed breast, and perhaps most surprisingly of all, a pair of blue jeans. The magazine revealed it via Twitter earlier today after legions little monsters (2013, to be exact) RT’ed” the mag’s initial tweet about it, because that’s how social media strategy works. They also told everyone to pre-order ARTPOP, because that is a totally fine thing for a journalistic outlet to do for one of its profile subjects.
Is it just me, or does she look like a completely different person here? I mean, her nose and mouth sort of give it away, but the touseled brown hair is a huge change from ‘dos of old, even the darker ones. (For once, it looks like she’s not wearing a weave.) It’s probably closer to what she looks like naturally, so I guess we should be even more impressed in retrospect that she was able to transform herself into the bizarre blonde alien princess she once was. Personally, I dig the new look.
They also revealed a couple of naked photos from inside the magazine, as promised:
These look a little more Gaga, especially the first one, in which she stares blankly at the camera as if to say, “take me to your leader.” I also appreciate the skillful deployment of sideboob in the second.
Stay tuned for a million billion more big reveals from this issue, because Lady Gaga will not rest until her loud, annoying, theater kid boobs have invaded every corner of the internet.
