As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Lady Gaga has been involved in a lawsuit since 2011—her former secretary, Jennifer O’Neill is claiming that Gaga owes her 7,168 hours of overtime and about $400,000 in damages.
The New York Post is reporting that an “innocent victim” has been dragged into the mess and is “about to get a huge financial slap across his ‘Poker Face.’” The innocent victim? Everyone’s favorite professional perv Terry Richardson (whom the Post calls a “star shutterbug”).
Apparently, O’Neill believes that the massive collection of behind-the-scenes photos—totaling 142,000—that Richardson shot while following Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour will somehow uphold the claim that Gaga kept O’Neill at her “beck and call.” I’m not sure how Richardson’s creep shots will enhance O’Neill’s case, but I say power to her.
Richardson is fighting tooth and nail to keep the photos from being entered into evidence, because once they are, they become public record and lose all of their monetary value. The Post mentions that Richardson made a staggering $58 million between June 2012 and June 2013, so I feel like he could stand to lose a few photos. Furthermore, the profit from the Monster Ball Tour is already made; in 2011 he released Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson, a collection of photos from the tour.
It seems that Richardson has already been involved in the hearings, as Fashionista reports:
Richardson’s name already came up in the suit during Gaga’s deposition, in which she claimed that O’Neill wasn’t owed any money, in part because she was “partying with [photographer] Terry Richardson all night.”
I can’t imagine that partying with Terry Richardson is any type of adequate consolation for over 7,000 hours of unpaid work. Actually, that sounds like something one should be paid to do. This whole thing seems like a clusterfuck and maybe Lady Gaga should get go ahead and take a tiny pebble of her $190 million fortune to pay over somebody who worked a menial service job.
