Lisa Robin Kelly, the actress famous for portraying Eric Forman’s sister Laurie on That 70s Show, was found dead last night in the California rehab facility where she was staying. According to Kelly’s agent, the troubled star had checked in a week ago in order to finally get over her alcohol habit.
“She had been fighting demons for a while and finally lost her battle,” the agent told TMZ.
According to TMZ’s sources, Kelly had recently begun drinking again after being beaten by her estranged husband, who reportedly wanted to acquire the money she was receiving from That 70s Show residuals. In a sad, borderline-unbelievable-but-also-horrifyingly-predictable, he is currently serving a mere 35 days for attacking her. Her current boyfriend is the one who brought her to rehab.
Previously, Kelly was arrested four times over the past three years for spousal abuse, assault and DUI. Sadly, it seems she had been having serious issues with alcohol once again.
Sources connected with the attempted rescue tell TMZ … when emergency responders arrived at the rehab facility, they found needle marks on both of Lisa’s arms.
However, her BF tells us the reason for the needle marks is that he took Lisa to a hospital on Sunday — because she had a .34 blood alcohol level … and nurses made multiple attempts to insert a needle into her vein to extract blood.
Kelly went into cardiac arrest on Wednesday night and passed away in her sleep.
I want to give you guys my opinion on this, to make this not so straightforward and just plain ol’ facts, but I don’t think anything I can possibly say will be…enough. When people die, in general, I think that there isn’t any way to say the right amount; it’s always too much or too little or too brash or too optimistic or too speculatory. All I wish is the best for her family and for those who were close to her.
