Yesterday, the world found out that there’s an ‘NSYNC reunion on the horizon and collectively flipped the fuck out. We didn’t really (team Backstreet Boys, sorry not sorry) but it did get us psyched on boy band fashion nostalgia–remember when groups of grown men wore color coordinated frock coats and paisley do-rags?
Now, though, marketing boy bands has become a lot more sophisticated (cynical?) because in order to color coordinate without looking like this, you have to do it in somber blacks and whites. And butch things up, just slightly:
That would be beautiful slightly butch men-children Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne and they’re in London for the This Is Us premiere, which is presumably about how boy bands used to have only one AJ and one JC but now are kind of like five AJs (visible tattoos) smashed together with 5 JCs (brown hair).
Styles wears Burberry and we must admit that the shirt’s pretty fresh, but Horan’s $XX,XXX,XXX Saint Laurent varsity jacket is bumming us out.
