I went to college 2500 miles away from my family, so for four years, I flew constantly. Nowadays, I still do it fairly often to visit my friends back in California and I (perhaps vainly) like to think of myself as a decent traveler; I know how to budget well, eat healthily and swiftly navigate airports. Most importantly: I always stay comfy. It doesn’t matter if I’m meeting my parents, my best friends or a dude I’m head over heels for; I still refuse to wear something uncomfortable while flying, and I am aware of what makes everyone else uncomfortable, too.
Lucky for tabloids and the rest of us, Lady Gaga does not feel the same way. After the VMAs and her many, many outfit changes, she attended the after-parties in an Atelier Versace Fall 2013 jumpsuit complete with Swarovski crystals and barely-there lace lingerie. The brasuit (more accurate than “jumpsuit,” Y/N?) was paired with leather Alaïa boots and Tom Ford sunglasses, as well as the snidest, sneeriest Gaga look one can imagine. But she didn’t just wear the outfit to party in; she showed up at London’s Heathrow Airport the next morning still in it.
There are entirely too many items one should avoid wearing while flying, starting with this ridiculous outfit. Of course, Lady Gaga probably has a private aircraft and can therefore set the thermostat to her liking, lay down when she wants to and possibly rides the wings of the plane naked regardless, so these guidelines are primarily for the comfort of us normals.
