I wear and love entirely too many products each day, but the three I can’t leave the house without:
The other two are primarily there to keep people from asking me if I’m sick (anemia + upfront acquaintances are not a fun combo). But no matter what, I love the way mascara makes my features look. It opens up the face, enhances the eye color, and adds great definition to any look.
But it’s not just enough to have mascara — no, you want to apply clean extensions of your natural lashes using excellent brushes, smooth formulas and solid volume. You don’t want clumps or stickiness or smears all over your eyes and underneath them; the “raccoon eye” look tends to exclusively work well in the high fashion world and is not so appropriate for, say, your first day at a new job when you want your eyes to look bright and defined. Unfortunately, a good mascara can be insanely pricey.
So, last week, because I love being a guinea pig, I bounced over to the local drugstore and snagged 10 of their most popular mascaras in order to see how well each worked for my eyes. I rated each mascara with regard to texture, lengthening abilities, volume and . Plus, each product is under $20 (many are under $10!) so you can stay within your budget while still getting a dramatic, powerful look for your eyes.
Oh, and be sure to let us know which is your favorite (whether it’s here or not)!
