What would you do if a total stranger came up to you and tried to kiss you on the mouth? Would you knee him in the balls? Spray him with some Bling Sting? Try to appease this sexually threatening person for long enough to get away?
These are questions not likely considered by the pair of intrepid male idiots who engaged in a series of video pranks titled “Sweeping Girls Off Their Feet” and “Greeting People With A Kiss.” (Interesting choice of words, there. Do women count as people?)
As you can see, the two Utah Valley University bros conducted the “experiment” by going up to random women and “greeting” them with a kiss on the mouth, because “in other cultures it’s totally normal to greet someone with a kiss on the cheek, or even on the mouth.” Um, have these assholes been to France? Pretty sure that kind of greeting is reserved for people you know. The women mostly try to laugh it off, as we are taught to do when a guy does something icky or untoward to us. “Have a sense of humor, ladies!” Barf.
There’s also one where they come out of nowhere and pick the girls up and carry them, because that is not terrifying at all.
While it’s clear that this takes place in a well-trafficked area within the somewhat controlled confines of a college community, it still sends an awful message to portray this as anything but a wrongheaded display of sexual aggression. And seeing as college campuses are plagued with sexual assault, maybe I shouldn’t qualify it that way. Or maybe I’m just being a humorless prude who cannot appreciate the twee charms of these two adorably naughty lotharios. What say you?
