Alice + Olivia is known for its romantic, lighthearted nature. Stacey Bendet‘s collections are always fresh, always fun and always pretty — and have perfectly coordinated beauty looks to accompany the clothes. Earlier this week, I went backstage at its show to check out the hair and makeup looks created by Nick Irwin of CATWALK by TIGI and Sarah Lucero for Stila, respectively, so I could share them with all you wonderful Glossers!
TIGI International Global Director Nick Irwin did a gorgeous hairstyle on the models involving a preppy-meets-pretty look, described as a “classic chignon with an edge.” What could be more wonderful for autumn?
Now, the “how”:
1. Irwin started with a base of straight, dry hair. He then flat ironed small sections utilizing while utilizing CATWALK by TIGI Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray until it was pin-straight.
2. He created a deep, defined side part over the left eyebrow, carefully brushing hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the model’s neck while making sure to smooth hair over the right ear. This was secured using an elastic.
3. To keep the look in place while smoothing fly aways, he worked CATWALK by TIGI Curlesque Strong Hold Mousse through the ponytail and applied heat.
4. Irwin secured the ponytail with another small elastic, then gently twisted it into a clean chignon. Using french pins, he tucked and secured the ends out of sight. Once the look was completed, he set it with CATWALK by TIGI Session Series Finishing Spray.
As for the makeup, celebrity makeup artist Sarah Lucero picked a prep-meets-pretty look, as well, for an “American beauty” type of look. She described the style as an Ivy League girl going glam, and picked gorgeous, soft colors to achieve this.
One of the most important aspects of this look: neutralizing the skin with CC cream so there isn’t any blotchiness or redness anywhere. Otherwise, Lucero says, the peachy colors she used wouldn’t make an impact on the face. One of my favorite things about this look is how striking it manages to be while simultaneously looking sweet, soft and lovely.
I also snagged a lot of gorgeous backstage pics of these lovely models in beautiful Alice + Olivia designs.
