I recently cut off all of my previously boob-length hair into a bob, and I’m sort of at a loss as to how to style it. Instead of trying out new styles, I basically just let it dry and hope it doesn’t turn into a triangle, or try an wrangle it into the world’s most pathetic pony tail.
But today I woke up and decided I wanted to do my hair and try something fun. I am a person who becomes bored after about for seconds of consistency, so I need to start incorporating some new styles into my hair routine, or else I’ll dye it green or shave off a side, Skrillex-style. Please save me from myself.
I rooted around the Internet for a bit and found these five awesome tutorials that even I can’t mess up. Here’s 5 awesome tutorials for styling short hair.
1. The Simple Gibson Tuck
Oh my god first of all everybody calm down NO I CAN’T CALM DOWN. That deep ginger hair is too freaking beautiful. I want to wear this to work and to fancy parties that I’m never invited to. It’s also less than five steps. Click over here for the full tutorial.
2. Short Curly Locks
I have trouble getting the necessary volume at the root to combat the aforementioned triangle situation, but these messy curls are just the right shape.
3. The Double-Braided Headband
This looks super easy and I don’t know why I didn’t think of trying this to jazz up my sad little pony tails. This would make it look intentional, and not like I just haven’t washed my hair! Click here to watch the tutorial.
4. The Waterfall Braid
I’ve seen all those waterfall braids on every Pinterest board in America and think they’re unbelievably beautiful. I didn’t think there was a way to corral my short bob into one until I saw this tutorial. If you know how to French braid, you can easily do this.
5. Sew Your Hair
Okay, this one is a little involved, so maybe it’s more a weekend affair. I love the dramatic side part and the totally unexpected threads instead of a pin or clip. I’m going to enlist a friend to give this one a try this weekend! Click here for the full tutorial!
