I imagine it is very strange to be a celebrity going to red carpet premieres, as you are undoubtedly going to be photographed like crazy by strangers who will then comment on whether or not you showed up looking okay for an event in which you sit in the dark. In this brief red carpet roundup, we have the fashion from the Closing Night Gala Presentation of Her during the 51st New York Film Festival at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
Olivia Wilde, Amy Adams and Rooney Mara all showed up, along with costar and progressive Gargamel impersonator Joaquin Phoenix. But while they all looked like they belonged on a red carpet, the cast didn’t really look like it should be on the same red carpet.
Olivia Wilde wore an outfit from Michael Kors’ Spring 2014 collection consisting of a pretty white blouse, beige palazzo pants and an absolutely stunning Yael Sonia necklace. I’m not really big on pants dragging, but I really loved the this look.
Plus, her makeup looked simple and stunning!
Rooney Mara picked a Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 dress with a keyhole at her center, foil on one side, a pleather bodice, and just entirely too much going on. I think with a few less elements, this could have been nice, but all the contrasting hues lines are just bothering my eyes.
That said, her makeup was very, very beautiful.
Amy Adams went in a completely different direction from the other two women, Prabal Gurung Spring 2014 dress in an almost overwhelming shade of lavender (seriously, I can’t decide if I’m obsessed with this color or it reminds me too much of Easter eggs).
Her makeup felt a little heavy handed; too much blush and green metallic shadow just don’t work with this monochromatic pastel look. But major props to whomever taped her dress!
The whole cast + director Spike Jonze. Please tell me you guys see what I mean about Phoenix.
