Are you one of those people who takes Halloween just a little bit too seriously? Great! We love those people. And if you’re a rich and thin woman who is still in love with Disney Princesses and doesn’t want to come in second to Heidi Klum again, you can get the costume of the year from Christie’s.
Earlier this year 10 famous fashion designers made one-of-a-kind dresses for Disney princesses. For a while they decorated the Harrods Christmas windows in London, but they’ve just now gone up for auction, so now’s your chance to buy one. We have to admit they would make the most impressive Disney Princess Halloween costumes ever.
While they are ridiculously gorgeous and we think real-life Disney princess Kate Middleton should just go ahead and buy all of them now, they’re also really expensive. The bidding starts at £3,000, or about $4900, and they’re probably going to go for a lot more than that.
We’re admittedly not really sure who is going to buy these, because you really do have to be the size of a mannequin and have $5000 to spend on a dress. There are lots of women like that, but how many are obsessed with Disney princesses enough to want to dress like them in real life?
The dresses are crazy gorgeous, though. Elie Saab made a sparkly rose-colored gown with a tulle train for Sleeping Beauty, and Ralph and Russo made a gorgeous seafoam-colored ballgown for Tiana from The Prince and the Frog. Jenny Packham, a favorite of real-life Disney princess Kate Middleton, made a sparkly dress for Rapunzel in a gorgeous shade of purple.
Still, Oscar De La Renta’s epic red cape and blue and yellow silk gown for Snow White are the standouts of the whole collaboration.
Potential buyers can submit bids by email to Christie’s, which estimates the Rapunzel, Tiana, and Aurora dresses will sell for around $8,000. The Snow White set is expected to go for closer to $10,000. But they come with shoes and accessories, so it’s totally a steal.
