Rita Ora is definitely not a chicken about hair things. She’s gone blue, blonde, punky, and even sleek and Veronica Lake-ish. Most recently she had a cool blonde crop, but that style only lasted a week before she popped up on Instagram looking enviably 90s and awesome in blue overalls, a plain white T-shirt, and tortoiseshell sunglasses, with the ends of her choppy blonde hair dyed pastel pink with a bright blue streak on the right side.
She credited the style to colorist Daniel Moon, but we’re pretty sure any blondes out there can get the same look with Manic Panic or even just hair chalk.
I’ve always envied blonds for their ability to play with pastel hair colors. A few pink streaks or ends can go in anywhere, while for those of us with darker hair, getting light enough for a pastel shade like that to show up is a big to-do. And then there’s the additional upkeep to think of, because while a natural blonde could avoid having to go in for regular touch-ups quite as often, the rest of us would have to be vigilant about watching for roots to show up.
Maybe I’ll put it off until my hair goes gray, then rock an awesome pink hairdo like Helen Mirren.
