When she’s not being critiqued for her “post-baby body,” emulated in cake form, and matching lovely little Prince George‘s christening gown, Kate Middleton (or Katherine, Duchess of Cambridge, if we want to get technical about it) attends lots of fancy events. Oftentimes, if not every time, she looks incredible. Yesterday’s 100 Women In Hedge Funds Gala Dinner in Aid of Action on Addiction was no exception.
For the gala, held at the State Apartments at Kensington Palace, Middleton stunned in a blue Jenny Packham gown that basically epitomizes my idea of amazing evening wear.
The navy silk tulle dress perfectly fits her, especially in the shoulders (where I think a lot of short-sleeved gowns tend to falter). I’m not particularly fond of her makeup, as it feels a little heavy-handed and somewhat competes with the dramatic nature of her dress, but I love her loose waves and slight off-center part. Plus, the little glimmer of shine from her earrings, as well as the decision to not wear a necklace with this simple and dramatic deep V-cut, was excellent.
This is exactly what I would want to wear to any event with the word “gala” in its name, for the record. So, uh, fancy people — start inviting me to stuff. I promise, I’ll actually wash my hair and not just use dry shampoo!
