Red Carpet Rundown: Selena Gomez Goes Barely-There, Everyone Else Goes Bombshell (Or Bad) For Flaunt

Flaunt Magazine November Party

Yesterday, we discussed Selena Gomez‘s pretty new haircut in the November edition of Flaunt. Today, we get to see how she, as well as Lydia Hearst, Lily CollinsBella Thorne and many others looked on the red carpet for the magazine’s party at Hakkasan Beverly Hills celebrating its latest issue. Selena went for an ultra-risque look, while (nearly) everyone else was bombshell status. So, let’s take a look at the good, the bad, and the barely there, shall we?

Carrie Brownstein looked amazing, naturally (I think she has some of my favorite Famous People Style ever). The dress fits magnificently, her hair looks gorgeous and that makeup is impeccable.

I’m a big fan of model Lydia Hearst‘s look. I like its fit, its design and how she (or her stylists) completed the look with simple makeup and hair.

Oh, Emile Hirsche. Blue sheen on blue denim?

Lily Collins wore the fiery version of Hearst’s look (well, sort of), which I feel like I would love if it didn’t remind me so much of a nightgown. Perhaps that’s more related to the bedhead hairstyle, though.

Bella Thorne at Flaunt Magazine's party

Bella Thorne had my least favorite look of the night with this giant, stiff House of Holland top with an accompanying skirt from the same designer. Perhaps this is one of those styles famous people can do but most of humanity wouldn’t touch? Eh, not into it. The bright blue Charlotte Olympia pumps and earrings clash horribly with the navy in her skirt, while her Bump It hairdo is unflattering to her face. On the bright side, Thorne’s hair color is really beautiful. Plus, she’s young; she has tons of time to get the red carpet thing right.

Thorne’s sister Dani also flopped on the red carpet with an ultra American Apparel-esque dress and poorly coordinated jacket.

Not big on the red buckled boots or leopard purse from Amanda de Cadenet‘s look, but her lovely sweater, incredibly shiny hair and simple jewelry looked great.

Not so keen on Bonnie McKee‘s horribly structured jacket, though the skirt and lipstick are cool.

And finally…Selena Gomez. While I loved her spread in Flaunt, I think this Cushnie Et Ochs Resort 2014 dress is just a little much. Actually, a lot much. Her black Jimmy Choo heels, disheveled side braid, gold Neil Lane, black manicure and deep lipstick shade are all well and good, but this dress isn’t my favorite look on her.

So true about Carrie Brownstein. She always looks great and interesting while still looking like her awesome self.

On Carrie Brownstein, I’m never sure on how I feel about pearl dresses/tops. I mean, I think it looks great, but I hate fake pearls, and they’re all obviously fake. But if it’s real pearls that’s just ridiculous and I’d rather eat/pay rent than buy a real pearl dress.

      It’s a dilemma.

I completely agree with you on Selena, and although I dislike her whole look, for me, this is the FIRST time her face does not look 11 years old. It actually looks like a 19-12 year old face. I don’t know what it is, maybe she isn’t smiling?

Nooooooooooo Lily Collins, the slip dress really needs to stay dead.
