10 Red Carpet Looks That Prove Neon Isn’t Always Completely Horrible

neon red carpet dresses

About a year ago, we rounded up “10 fashion trends that need to die right now”--and arguably our biggest vendetta was against then-hugely popular neon (well, and fucking sneaker wedges). Since then, the look has definitely lost its ubiquity on the streets–now, we see the occasional Fluro and that’s about it.

…Maybe because it’s not everywhere anymore, tiring eyeballs wherever it goes, we’ve softened a bit on our stance. Here are 12 red carpet looks that make a surprisingly compelling argument for not banning the shades outright.

Also. Some of the looks here are more neon than others. This was hard.

I’m not sure how Hailee Steinfeld’s Prada dress works so well but it does! I really love the shape of it and the bright stripes look so cool here.

Haliee Steinfeld’s dress is so cute and age appropriate and just amazing. I’m in love with Ginnfer Goodwin’s look. And Julie Bown basically nailed it forever. I just want to be a celebrity or rich person or really any kind of person that has an excuse to wear fabulous ball gowns a lot.
