It’s ridiculously cold out right now, but last night’s premiere of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues managed to draw out some of our very favorite people, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kristin Wiig, and Kate McKinnon. (How great is Kate McKinnon? All of it.) While most people seemed focus on staying warm, a couple stars really brought their A-game to this particular red carpet. Unfortunately, effort doesn’t always pay off in awesomeness. Let’s check out what everyone wore.
We would pay good money to see Amy Poehler in some crazy couture ball gown, but Leslie Knope has earned enough good will that we’re just thrilled to see her, no matter what she’s wearing. Ball gowns tend to be the purview of a film’s stars, so Poehler’s cute frock is attractive, seasonally appropriate, and looks nice on her. Semi-opaque black tights are a battle I am constantly fighting, so I wish hers were less sheer. The shoes are fantastic.
Kate McKinnon is the new Bill Hader, and she’s awesome. She looks fantastic in this, and we would pay a million dollars for the seat between her’s and Poehler’s last night.
Tina Fey looks nice and toasty. Are those leather pants? Love her casual hair and that lipstick color.
Little Judah Nelson looks cute in his red bow tie, but this picture is really just here because there’s a doggy in it.
The colors and textures of James Marsden‘s ensemble are all over the place. It’s like he’s wearing half of two different outfits. This look is a mess. Would still marry him, though.
But then there were some ladies who were actually starring in this movie and had to bring it at the ball gown level.
Meagan Good‘s Donna Karan dress is excellent, it just doesn’t seem to fit her very well at all. It looks like it’s at least a size too big, and in some shots the gapping at the bust veered perilously close to wardrobe malfunction. I like the idea of the Grecian styling and the color is great on her, so if this had fit her at all it would probably have been a flawless victory. Her accessories are well chosen, and check out that crazy manicure.
Christina Applegate‘s Lorena Sarbu gown has a train, which we always appreciate. Her dress is nice and it looks good on her. It’s not our favorite look ever, but it’s not exactly a disaster either. We’ll give it a B.
Kristen Wiig, on the other hand, wore a mess. It’s a Prada mess, but it’s still a mess. The salmon pink color blocking throws off the proportions of the dress, making the shoulder line look strangely enormous and blocky. I’m not a fan of the embellished center panel either. Still love her, though, and her makeup looked pretty great.
As much as I personally like Wiig best with slightly lighter hair, this dark reddish brown color is so very shiny, and she’s mastered that red/orange lip all the cool celebrities are rocking this winter.
