Yay! It’s red carpet season again, and we couldn’t be happier. Sure, there’s basically always a red carpet on the ground somewhere, but now that we’re back from the holidays we’re ready for the major red carpets to get started bringing out the big celebrities in borrowed couture. This weekend famous people like Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep appeared at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and they’ve really stepped up the outfit game since we’ve seen them recently.
Check out what they wore.
Julia Roberts found a leopard-print lace shift from Gucci with bell-shaped 3/4 length sleeves. It shows off her amazing legs to excellent effect. We like the vague 60s vibe, but the cut on the dress is pretty matronly, especially in contrast with the youthful, casual hairstyle.
Meryl Streep is pretty dressed-down, but I would like to own that comfy-looking sweatshirt so I can always look dressed up when I go to the corner store. Basically, Meryl Streep gets enough points just from being Meryl Streep that she automatically wins any event she shows up to, without needing any fashion points for a boost.
Margo Martindale should really win a lot more acting awards. Her turn on Justified was one of the best TV villains we’ve ever seen.
Brilliant actress selfie!
Naomie Harris should teach a master class on wearing sheers and lace on the red carpet. The belt is great with this, and she even found a shoe that works with a see-through lace dress.
Lupita Nyong’o continues to absolutely kill it on the red carpet. The embellishment on this dress would overwhelm almost anybody, but she carries it off as comfortably as her favorite jeans.
Also she is like the most beautiful woman in the world.
Amy Adams continues to play with 70s inspired silhouettes in this patterned Juan Carlos Obando gown, reminding us all that she is quite beautiful and would very much like a Best Actress Oscar nomination for American Hustle, thank you very much.
Sandra Bullock manages to wear lace over sheer illusion netting and this Alex Perry dress is still our favorite look of the night. She’s convincing us to try hot pink and orange at the same time, which we will blame on her if it doesn’t work for us.
