The Valentino Haute Couture show that ran last night in Paris surprised us, but not with the usual couture week flair or surprise guest stars. Creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli described the collection as a “fantastic journey” inspired by opera, with a set from the Rome Opera House. The La Traviata-inspired collection gave us a bit of whiplash as it alternated between fairytales, ballerinas, and some monastic looks that so austere they butted up on dour.
Valentino is a red carpet standard, so we’re pretty much guaranteed to see a few of these looks at the big awards shows this year. Let’s look through them and guess where they’ll be.
Katy Perry will totally try to wear this, but let’s give it to Lorde instead.

This makeup should definitely get some real-life play.

We would say this one would be ideal for Keira Knightley, but we think she already owns two of it.
Picks for our other favorite celebrities, this way …
