Makeup Inspired By: Super Bowl XLVIII Contenders The Denver Broncos

I respect those who watch the Super Bowl for the football gladiator fest that it’s meant to be. I am more into the hot wings, seven layer dip, and opportunity for themed makeup looks. Because what could be easier to pull off than bright orange and blue eye shadow?

I just moved to NYC after six years in the Rockies, so I was pretty stoked to show my Colorado love with this makeup look. Earlier, Sam did a Seattle Seahawks tutorial, but now it’s time to say: GO BRONCOS!

Start off by prepping your eyes and lips with a little moisturizer. I picked up the new Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Pink Me Up. We’ll be using a super pigmented  mattelipstick, so you want to make sure your lips are hydrated and flake free.

supplies

The focus of this look is an intense eye, so I didn’t spend a lot of time on my complexion. Dot on a foundation or tinted moisturizer.  I used L’Oreal Magic Nude in Light Ivory because it’s easy to apply with your fingertips.

primer

Prep your lids with an eyeshadow primer. I’m using the lid primer by glo minerals. I usually skip primer and regret it because I find the texture of most difficult to work with, but this product is so, so easy to apply. It comes in a pot like lip balm, so you can use exactly as much as you need and apply it with your ring finger.

orange

After priming your eye, sculpt your crease with a bright orange shade. I found this Bronco-perfect eye palette by Wet and Wild called Art in the Streets. Vibrant orange shadows can be tough to find, and I am super impressed with this palette. It has great color payout, especially for $3.99. Find it at drugstores like Walgreens and CVS.

Blend out the color with the yellow shade from this palette (or any matte yellow shadow).

blue and orange

Using the bright blue shade, fill in your lid.

blue shadow

Pick up a navy shade (I used the deepest blue from BH Cosmetics 28 Color Smoky Eye Palette) with an angled brush. Apply the darker shade where the bright blue and orange meet in your crease.

blue and orange shadow

Apply blue glitter to your lid. I used a glitter single by Wet and Wild in the color Distortion (also at the drugstore). When using a cream glitter instead of loose pigment, a flat packing brush will help get better coverage than a finger.

glitter

Brighten up your brow bone with a bright white shadow, like Opal by glo minerals.

Applying your undereye concealer after your shadow lets you pick up any fallout from colored shadows. I used Benefit Fake-Up and blended with my ring finger.

liner

LIne your top lashes with black liquid liner, like L’Oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense. Line bottom lashes with the bright blue shadow.

Finish with black mascara.

finished

The last step is a bright orange lipstick. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lipstick in Electric Orange won’t dry out your lips and is densely pigmented. If you don’t feel like wearing bright blue eye shadow, you could rock a neutral eye and just show your Bronco love with this lipstick alone.

Happy Super Bowling!
