What is more symbolic for Valentine’s Day than a heart-shaped box of delightful chocolates? Even as a kid, I remember being so excited for Valentine’s Day chocolates because my mom would let me pick out a couple from the Fanny Farmer store inside our local mall; they would be cream-filled with peppermint, raspberry, strawberry, orange and tons of other flavors. Nowadays, I still love chocolates, but I’ve moved a bit more onto a bit more simple, rich flavors, like dark chocolate with chili–thus, the inspiration for this look!
Tie your hair back, I’m using Vidal Sassoon No Crimp Braid Elastics – they work great and never damage my hair. Let’s get started.
1. Start with a clean, moisturized face. I recommend using Evian Natural Mineral Water Facial Spray to keep your face moisturized throughout the day. Apply a medium coverage foundation like LORAC POREfection Foundation in PR 1 (it has SPF 20 and I’m lazy about sunscreen during the work week, so I’ve been using it a lot lately). I used my fingertips for this since it’s a more carefree, fun look rather than super polished. Not a fan of that level of coverage? You can mix just a dot of the foundation with your regular lightweight moisturizer for a more sheer tinted formula instead.
Then, take a coverup (I picked Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in CIA) and apply it under your eyes and on any blemishes, then blend gently using your ring finger’s tip.
2. Sweep a warm rosy blush up your cheekbones, like Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Glisten, using a blush brush. Then, swirl a bronzer brush into a matte bronzer like Too Faced Bronzed & Poreless, tap the brush on a hard surface to get off excess product, and sweep on the underside of your cheekbone. Blend upward using a makeup sponge.
3. Use a bronze shimmery cream shadow like CoverGirl Bombshell Shineshadow all over your lids, then apply a shimmery reddish brown into the crease of your eye (Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Roach will work great for this) and blend upwards a bit. Using a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush, apply a paler gold or taupe from the inner corner up and across to your brows. Using a black liquid liner, such as Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion, draw a thin line along the lashes and up into a point. I then took a bit of brown pencil liner, Prestige Cosmetics Ideal Match Brow Pencil in Medium/Deep, and drew it along my lower lashline. Finally, apply a deep brown mascara like L’Oreal Voluminous Volume Building Mascara in Brown/Black.
To fill in brows, draw thin, light strokes into yours (I used the same Prestige Cosmetics pencil as in step #3), then blend using the pencil’s built-in brow brush.
5. Apply a long-lasting lipstick in a deep red shade like Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick In Fiery. If you are even the slightest bit tanner than I am, you can likely pull off more of a brown shade for that chocolatey lip look, but I am eerily pale and that is just not gonna happen.
Spritz with Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray and voila! You are a delightful little spicy truffle.
