A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend the opening of Vivid Entertainment’s new club Cabaret. It was a pretty snazzy crowd–well-dressed people from all sorts of backgrounds looking to have a good time at a club that comes from one of the biggest names in the adult film industry. And that was one of the coolest things about the night: there were multiple Vivid stars at the opening, including Savanna Samson, a highly successful adult film actress, wine maker, mom and overall cool woman with an unbelievably good complexion (no really, I saw it up close, it’s like she’s been airbrushed IRL).

Savanna, whose non-professional name is Natalie Oliveros, has had an amazing career in adult film, boasting 110 films, several awards, and numerous appearances on television shows. But that’s not all she’s done–Savanna has also created a successful wine company, Savanna Samson Wines. (Just for the record, I got to sample a glass of her Sogne Tre wine and it was delightful.) And she’s a mother, which she spoke about on 20/20 a couple years ago.

Speaking of which, I was given the opportunity to ask Savanna some questions on topics ranging from love and romance to wine to parenting to the adult film industry!

TheGloss: In the past 9 or so years, you’ve really delved into the winemaking industry. What do you enjoy most about having a wine company, and heading a company in general?

Savanna Samson: I love the learning process. My father made wine for his own enjoyment many years ago and he inspired me.  Now I understand that there’s much more involved in running a winemaking business.  I’m lucky to be surrounded by knowledgeable people who are helping me every step of the way.

What are your favorite wines (including ones from your own company)? Which would you most recommend for a romantic evening?

I would recommend my Savanna Samson Wines Sogno Tre. This Barbera was made from 50 year old vines and you can taste the wild cherry and hints of raspberry along with suggestions of ripe black fruit. It improves with some aeration and has amazing length. You can learn more at www.savannasamsonwine.com.

While working in the adult film industry, what was your favorite thing about it? And in conjunction with that, what’s the best thing it brought to your life, even after you retired from it?

I think I found myself in the nude!  Being naked and having sex in front of a camera brought me a confidence that even I didn’t know I had and it’s translated into being confident in my new business as well.

What is your advice for young people who are thinking about entering the adult industry?

It’s not for everyone. Just keep in mind that there isn’t any going back because once you dabble in it, even just for a movie or even a scene, it’s there in cyperspace forever. However, if you are comfortable as an adult performer, give it all you’ve got.

Who are some women currently in the industry whom you respect highly and consider to be positive influences within it?

Tera Patrick is someone I’ve long admired and I consider her a positive influence on other actresses.

Speaking of positive influences, what’s your favorite thing about being a parent?

Seeing the world for the second time through my son’s eyes. Everything is new and fresh and he has his own take on life.

Do you have any advice for parents who working in industries that others may frown upon, or how to deal with judgmental people in general?

There’s no point in hiding what you do as ultimately, it will get out. Be proud that you earned an honest living while providing for your family.

Speaking of which, do you ever face criticism from other parents?

Maybe I’ve been lucky, but I haven’t faced criticism from other parents.  If anything, they’ve been supportive and understanding that it hasn’t always been easy for me.

What’s your best beauty advice for women seeking to look great?

Find a good dermatologist that you trust and see him/her regularly to keep your skin in shape. Of course, eat and drink healthy.
