Jennifer Lawrence‘s Dior contract just keeps getting better, starting out with a slightly underwhelming, highly photoshopped ad campaign, progressing to a beautiful, toned down second campaign and moody but not-over-the top editorial, and completely nailing the mark with its just-announced third campaign.
According to WWD, the photos were shot by Patrick Demarchelier, and will appear in the April issue of Vanity Fair. The styling is excellently minimal, drawing attention to Lawrence’s enviable brows. Seriously, how do I make my eyebrows grow like that?
Her hair looks the best we’ve seen it look since her drastic Kate Gosselin-inspired hair cut late last year, and it seems obvious to me that she should go for the tousled, sexy tomboy look more often (or maybe I’m just really partial to tousled, sexy tomboys). It’s both organic and sculptural, which is a modern break from her current style.
In case you want more Jennifer Lawrence, Dior is planning to release a video next week that will follow Lawrence as she picks an Oscar dress from the Dior collection, which I hope will be a better look than the one she chose for the Golden Globes, hilarious meme be damned. I’m sure they won’t be fun and won’t give away what dress she actually picks, but maybe we’ll be able to figure it out by process of elimination (no way she wears any of the dresses shown in the video, right?).
This might be my favorite Dior/Jennifer Lawrence ad yet; it hits all of my marks. The photos are simple, emotional, sexy, and subtle. Nothing about it screams “in your face,” and they have a certain heaviness to them, but not one that weighs you down. They feel substantial or monumental.
