The 10 Cutest Photos Of Girls In Prom Dresses Holding Guns

When you think back to your prom, what comes to mind? Corsages? Tiaras? Bad synth music? Dancing awkwardly in the arms of your sweaty teenage date while your gym teacher looks on from the chaperones’ table? Guns and ammo and the cakes that resemble them?

There are a lot of things I don’t understand about this country, and near the top of that list is the South’s fetishistic obsession with weaponry. It’s something that just doesn’t compute in my mind… but on days like this, I’m glad it exists. Because multiple girls have had the idea to put on cute prom dresses and hold guns, The Gloss proudly presents: The 10 Cutest Photos Of Girls In Prom Dresses Holding Guns.

“How do you want people to remember you after you graduate?” “As someone who was never ashamed to display the flag of the Confederate States of America.”

While I can’t say I understand the whole camouflage thing, I admire her commitment to making the accessories and the shoes work together. She knows what she’s doing.

Good thinking, girl. If you’re gonna spend a ton of money on a dress, make sure it blends into the woods. Never go to prom unprepared to hide from deer. And you never know when you’ll need to make a stealthy escape through the trees.

This is the most romantic and terrifying thing I’ve seen all day. Now that we have the picture, let’s go ahead and slowly put the guns down. Let’s… let’s just put them down, yeah?

Now I’m super bummed that all I did before my prom was go to Olive Garden. Why didn’t we think to grab some weaponry for the road?

This color really works for her. So does the barbed wire in the background. So does the giant ass gun.

She looks pretty awesome, actually. I just hope no Hunger Games tributes were harmed in the making of this photograph.

This one speaks for itself.

You don’t want to show up at prom empty-handed when all the other girls thought to bring freshly-skinned muskrats.

she's got serious guns

What else are you gonna call these? She looks awesome.

Well….I don’t get it but I’m pretty uncomfortable around guns myself. I’ll be honest though-I feel like there is something so bad ass about a bow and arrows. I don’t know why, I just feel that way.

    • brebay

Maybe because thousands of people aren’t killed in America each year with crossbows.

    • http://anthonnyag.deviantart.com/ Anthonny Arias

      Not only in America.

    • Jacob

we’ll start killing thousands of people with crossbows if you take our guns away.

    • LEDiceGlacier

It’s not that easy, at least you have to be skilled to use a bow/ crossbow. With the guy you can click the trigger and he/she’s gone.

    • Obama Sucks Dick

You clearly haven’t shot many firearms eh?

    • TheAppleFanatic

Using a gun takes a lot more skill than you think.

    • TheAppleFanatic

Using a gun takes a lot more skill than you think.

    • Bailey

Crossbows were invented for less skilled marksmen

    • Sachiko Sho

A guy in my area went on a murder spree with a crossbow, then shot himself in the head with it.

    • brebay

Thanks for sharing, sill pales in comparison to the number of gun deaths, doesn’t it

    • Gezo

So if you banned guns, all the criminals would be forced to obey the law. Because thats what criminals are by definition. People who obey the law.

    • brebay

      Who wants to ban guns?

    • TheAppleFanatic

      oBAMa.

    • brebay

then direct your question to him.

    • Bailey

      Barack Osama* not Barack Obama

    • TheAppleFanatic

      oBAMa.

    • Sachiko Sho

Crazy people will find a way to do crazy things no matter what they have at their disposal.

    • Obama Sucks Dick

Omg stfu with this guns shit. It’s the criminals that are murdering, not guns. More than 20x people die a year from tobacco, alcohol and vehicles than guns but I don’t hear you bitching about them.

    • Note

It’s America, land of the STOP BITCHING ABOUT THEM BITCHING

    • Bailey

I have a gun. I put on my front porch and left and when I came back it didn’t kill anyone. My conclusion is guns don’t kill people, or I have the laziest gun in the world. Now off to my kitchen to investigate spoons cause I heard they make people fat.

    • Kathryn A. O’Keefe

It should be noted that more people in America are stabbed to death than shot.

    • LEDiceGlacier

You’re not alone, bow and arrow is the coolest weapon out there.

    • Lily Shimizu

I’m not fond of guns either and I think bow and arrows are awesome too. I even tried it myself and I have my own bow and arrows but I haven’t touched it in a while and I’m still a weak little amateur. I think what’s cool about them is that they require more skill and obviously much less noisy.

  • Ashley Reese

    This is so twisted.

    • Lindsey Conklin

      agreed.

  • A

…? Girls with a confederate flag are “cute”? If this is satire it’s not obvious… if it’s not satire, then that’s disgusting. Racism and oppression are not cute, they’re horrifying, and I’m frankly just very confused.

(And yes, I’m from the South. So don’t try to tell me it’s a “Southern thing.”)

    • Muggle

      I’m pretty sure it’s satire.

    • A

Okay, so, awesome. Let’s assume it’s satire. So what exactly are they satirizing? Only one photo included a Confederate flag, so that’s not the target. Are they just making fun of high school girls – *high school girls*, not even grown-ups – for being…. what, tacky?

Sure, this isn’t my aesthetic either, but making fun of these girls is incredibly classist and pretty offensive. The article just plays into (confirms?) the stereotype that privileged New York writer types think they’re better than other people by virtue of where they live and what their hobbies are. Gross.

    • Muggle

so wait, are you more bothered by a racist symbol jokingly being called “cute” or the perpetuation of a stereotype? I’m a Southerner too and I didn’t find anything about this all that offensive. I agree that Northerners can be really rude about the Southern way of life and paint Southerners with the same brush… but this doesn’t do that.

    • Ryan L.

While it’s unfortunately true that racist-to-the-core people use the Confederate flag, the flag itself doesn’t stand for racism. No matter what the textbooks tell you, the war wasn’t all about slavery, it was about states’ rights.
That being said, these girls are all more gutsy than I…

    • brebay

States’ rights to decide which human beings could own other human beings.

    • Jacob

States rights were not only about slavery, plus only the rich white people owned slaves. Also during the time of slavery, people were discriminated in the north just as much as in the south.

    • jacob

      Black people*

    • A

You’re absolutely right that people in the north were very racist too, but since their economic system didn’t depend on the institution of slavery, most of them were able to have enough distance to at least realize that, you know, *owning people is never ok.*

And sorry, but it simply wasn’t about some grand ideal of state sovereignty, it was about the institution of slavery. It’s a stain on the history of the south and the country as a whole that everyone wishes didn’t exist, but trying to explain it away only perpetuates it.

    • Bailey

More than 95% of southerners did NOT own slaves before and during the Civil War

    • Gezo

Confederate Flag has nothing to do with ‘racism’. No more then any other flag has to do with ‘racism’.

  • Muggle

Ah, prom in rural Southern towns. The memories.

  • http://www.tinyroomproductionsonline.com onlyelise

I love the dress, but the girl in the center of the first one looks like she’s about to have a serious wardrobe malfunction…

    • Crayzcheshire

      Right?! Whoah there lil lady!

    • Gracea Hilsen

yeah and that lady with the confederate flag beside her o_0 I feel that was unnecessary.

  • Amanda

Everyone I went to high school with’s prom photos looked like this.

    • brebay

I bet they all use apostrophes as well as you too…

    • Amanda

Seriously? You must be sooo superior to me since you can comment on the internet and let me know I used an apostrophe wrong.

    • brebay

No, honey, that’s not why I’m superior to you. I am, but that’s not why.

    • Amanda

You are what is wrong with this world. I accidentally misplaced an apostrophe. And as evidenced from my original comment, I grew up in a small, rural town. So you automatically assume that I am uneducated and that you are superior to me. You are bullying, plain and simple. You know nothing about me or my life, but you make assumptions based on one comment and one mistake. Instead of overlooking a small mistake, you choose to make a snarky comment that did absolutely nothing to make this world a better place. There is enough hate and bullying in this world without you adding to it. It is time to climb off your high horse and realize that we are all human beings. You can hide behind your anonymity on the internet and that makes you feel powerful and entitled and superior. But you aren’t. I don’t care if you’re freaking Kate Middleton, we’re all human beings. We all came from the same place and we’re all going the same place. So instead of inflicting hate, why don’t you try being nice?

    • Gezo

      Get shrek’t.

  • ArtieDoescher

The Girls are Looking so cute and charming keep with Gun .

  • Cassieleigh

I actually kinda love it. If there’s one thing southern women know, it’s how to be both tough and feminine at the same time. To the rest of the country it seems strange, and it’s not exactly my taste. But really what it’s about is: A) a cultural phenomenon; in the South, we like guns. B) the dichotomy is funny. Sure it a makes sense for a girl going hunting to carry a gun but a girl in a prom dress carrying a gun, LOL. And C) it’s also a statement that women aren’t just one thing. We’re not just pretty or smart or tough. We’re all of the above. (For the record, I’m from Texas, I own guns but I didn’t pose with anything for a prom pick.)

    • Lapis Safeiros

      Haha. I agree with you!

  • Williwaw

“Freshly Skinned Muskrats” would be a great name for the band performing at the prom.

  • tk88

“No one’s robbing our limo tonight!”

  • Imokyourealright

Can I get a list of rules on which types of women are ok to mock? I know Southern is on the list, along with rural. Who else to I get to post and ridicule? Are we getting a ratchet prom post next week?

    • brebay

Just ask your Republican Congressmen; they seem to have the list. BTW, they’re mocking rednecks, not Southerners. All southerners don’t want to be painted with the ‘Merica brush.

    • Imokyourealright

As I live in the South and am not a redneck, I am aware that those of us South of the Mason-Dixon are not a homogenous stereotype.

Also, Quit using the “someone else is worse so my actions/words are permisable by comparison.” The inappropriateness of someone else’s actions or words does not validate yours by comparison. If it is not ok to ridicule people from different cultural, social, socio-economic, educational, sexual, or gender backgrounds/experiences/opportunities then it is wrong regardless of what Republican Congress folk say. BTW.

    • brebay

Redneck is a choice, not a protected class. Just like idiots are not a protected class.

  • Crusty Socks

I need a camo suit for work.

  • Prof. Peabody

    Disgusting.

America and Russia … so similar, so backwards.

  • Guest

That’s nothing compared to this shit!

  • crazicutie

Honestly, this reminds me of some of the girls in my high school. I personally own firearms, but some of these pictures are just weird. I’m glad I’m no longer in high school.

  • Elisa Probert

I love #3. She’s all, “Just taking my dog out hunting! We’ll be back in time for prom!”

I may just be partial to the dog…Basset Hounds are my second favorite breed.

  • Lapis Safeiros

I think I like that purple dress. :) The color really does suit her well. Nature-y, leaf-y dresses are nice too. Haha. Pretty and tough-y girls. Yeah!

    • Lapis Safeiros

Oh, and compound bow, for the win. …just too much bling on her dress to satisfy me and my own preferences. :P

  • thenickhernandez

White, white, white, white.white, white, white, white, white, and white yup just what I thought, all white

    • Me-Me

And your point being what exactly??

  • Bailey

That’s not the flag for the confederacy. That’s the battle flag not their national flag which consisted of a blue flag with a white star

  • K

    “11/09/2242″

  • Me-Me

Well at least you can be sure that these girls probably know firearm safety. Firearms seem to be a big part of their lives so I assume they know the correct way to handle them. I prefer that than the uneducated idiots who cant tell the difference from the business end and the stock.
