I had a good run, but I do not miss high school. Going up a few pant sizes and paying for my own rent is totally worth freedom from cliques, college applications, and my parents’ basement.

That said, I would totally redo prom. Formal wear, stretch limos, and coordinating hot dates for six of my girlfriends all sound like way more fun now that I have decent taste in booze and a dress budget over $50. Kids these days have way more short and simple dresses to choose from than I could find back in the early aughts, and I can’t help but wish I had a cocktail party or fancy wedding planned as an excuse to snap up some of this year’s dresses.

From retro and goth lite to sequins and lace, here are 25 prom dresses you’ll want to wear right now. Olive Garden reservations and vodka flask not included.

That two-toned peplum thing (I can’t even call it a dress) is disastrous.
      Just say no to peplums.

Are floor-length prom dresses no longer the norm?

I never had a prom. I went to a strict, religious, all-girls high school. Do you think I could look on Craigslist to see if anyone wants to invite a 21 year old (with a boyfriend) to prom? Do high-schoolers even craigslist? Hopefully not. After all, the Craigslist Killer, if you know what I mean.
