Madonna Celebrates Purim Dressed As Game Of Thrones‘ Daenerys Targaryen, And It’s Glorious

We do not know what is happening or why, but Madonna is posting selfies of herself dressed up as Game of ThronesDaenerys Targaryen, and the results are amazing.

“Happy Purim!!!!! All Hail All Queens!” she announced last night, alongside a picture of herself dressed up as Daenerys, usually played on TV by the ridiculously beautiful Emilia Clarke. Someone clearly spent a lot of effort on that costume, with its leather corset, blue dress, bracelets, and chain mail. She looks surprisingly awesome in that long, silvery blonde wig, and she even has a couple of little dragons with her.

According to The Huffington Post:

Purim is a spring holiday that “commemorates the Jewish community’s narrow escape from collective destruction in the ancient Persian Empire.” While Madonna was raised as a Roman Catholic, she converted to the Jewish belief system Kabbalah in the late ’90s and took the Hebrew name Esther, the orphaned Jewish girl who saves her people and becomes the Queen of Persia.

People often celebrate Purim in costume, and Madonna went all-in with her take on the mother of dragons. We love it. People should run around in cool costumes all year long.

Game of Thrones comes back to HBO in a couple weeks, and it looks like Madonna is as excited about it as we are.

The passage where Esther reveals herself to be Jewish and gets Hamen hanged from his own scaffolds was my haftorah portion for my BatMitzvah. It’s actually really hard to sing and I had to sing it from the Megilot (the formal scroll written entirely in formal script, which means it has no vowels) I was terrified

She’s never looked better….at least not in the last 20 years.
