Dita Von Teese Gives You Sexcellent Advice On Wearing Lingerie

Performance By Dita Von Teese Sex kitten and world renowned glamor puss, Dita Von Teese is the reigning queen of wearing lingerie. Between her burlesque career, expanding lingerie line and history as an employee at a lingerie shop, she’s basically the underpants authority–sorry, Victoria’s Secret Angels.

Today on Today, the modern day icon of retro mystique talked about her influences like Gypsy Rose Lee and Sally Rand, her personal collection of historical underthings, and explained a few of the darling garments from her line.

I’m particularly obsessed with these pieces:

Madame X Bikini-madame x bikini

Madame X Suspenders-

If you feel a little sheepish about wearing such racy underpinnings, the esteemed Von Teese has got you covered. She also offered a few pointers  for women on buying, wearing and feeling good in sexy underthings. Her advice is as sexcellent as you’d expect.

Here are Dita Von Teese’s 3 lingerie tips to live by*:

  • Get fitted and wear your actual size to achieve peak glamor. If you don’t like your size, cut the tags out!
  • Buy more than one pair of underwear to mix and match with your bras. Extra gold stars for experimenting with new styles.
  • Wearing underwear is practically mandatory, so take pleasure in it!

They don’t make sexy lingerie in my size ):

Girl, that is the WORST. Retailers need to get with the program and start selling a wider variety of sizes. If you email me Joanna@thegloss.com, I promise I’ll try my best to help you find some sexy lingerie whether you’re a 28AA or 48HH.

They do make sexy underwear in my size. Just not much of it, and at exorbitantly high prices. I join in your ):

I own the overwire one and it’s terrible! I bought it out of curiosity, but there’s a reason all bras are underwired! (Yes it is in my size) It gives you mad quadraboob, you can even notice it on the model if you look. I could only wear it with the straps and they kept falling off, it’s a weird silhouette. Just about got it to look ok when it was on with an underbust corset. It’s a really horrible bra!

Now I’m sad because I just ordered that with high hopes. I’ve had good experiences with vintage overwire bras before and hoped that Dita’s knowledge of vintage lingerie would translate into a good contemporary version. I’m so bummed now. I hope it works better for me.

The lingerie is lovely, the model in the link is lovely. But I cannot buy shape wear that is advertised on a model who is so slender that the ultra-fitted shape wear (which is designed to suck it all in) appears to be too big and completely unnecessary for her.

Yes please!! The tag is just a number, something that doesn’t fit won’t look good on your curves no matter how pretty the number in the tag looks!
