Lauren Conrad’s New Pastel Hair Is Just The Push She Needs To Be Relevant Again

Lauren Conrad, reality star-turned curated lifestyle guru, is the latest celebrity to have a drastic dye job, and she went for a pastel purple. As she announced on her blog (with some good advice about hair dying in general):

I decided to take the plunge and try a semi-permanent color. This one stays in for 6 to 8 weeks before washing out. I really didn’t think that purple was my color, but after seeing several others wear it recently, I decided to give it a try. I also tested out the dye on a small section of hair underneath, before coloring my whole mane—which I always recommend. It just goes to show that you should never knock a trend until you try it…

It’s really both purple and pink, which looks stunning with Conrad’s skin tone. I love that it’s not one flat color or something ombre like we’ve seen over and over but is super dynamic and multidimensional. That’s a pretty solid dye job, and marked improvement over the last time she tried to go pink.

I have a feeling that this is an April Fools’ prank, and in that case–way to go? You really got us. That might overestimate people’s interest in her hair choice, but then again, here I am writing about it. If it is a joke, she learned something about herself, which is that she looks incredible with pastel purple hair. Now, LC, go do that to your hair IRL, because it looks awesome.

The pastel hair trend is all over the place, and so far, we’re loving it–it has yet to become played out and overdone. It looked notably lovely on Ireland Baldwin in both the purple and blue iterations, and Nicole Richie‘s lilac version is stunning. Hopefully this thing has some staying power, and I’m heartened by the very fact that pastel hair made me care about Lauren Conrad again. Gosh, she really is pretty.

I wasn’t crazy about her hot pink ends, but if she wants to go pastel pink I bet it would look really, really pretty!

I feel like this is an April Fool’s prank just because she’s getting married (although it is only 6-8weeks). Either way, this color looks fabulous and I wish I could pull it off

I definitely think it is an April Fool’s Day prank for the same reason. She told UsWeekly that she wasn’t a fan of purple hair, so I doubt she’d take the plunge. That being said, I wish she would really do something this cool to her hair. Photoshopped or not, it looks amazing.
