Red Carpet Rundown: The Good, The Bad, And The Inexplicably Awful At The Mad Men Premiere

AMC Celebrates The Season 7 Premiere Of "Mad Men" - Red Carpet

Last night’s red carpet for the premiere of Mad Men was a mixed mag–it ranged from the truly awful to the fully sublime. I couldn’t be more excited for the premiere on the 13th, and seeing all these familiar faces gussied up made me want to go back and re-watch from season one. It’s funny–seeing the cast in today’s clothing always feels anachronistic and bizarre to me, and I don’t know why but I forget that these are real humans existing in 2014, and as such subscribe to the same fashion trends that I do. What a world!

I’m really split on the pattern on Alison Brie‘s dress. It sort of looks like an owl is peeking out from her genital region.

Annaleigh Ashford looks adorable.

As does Ben Feldman–those rosy cheeks make me want to kill something small.

Things are really happening with Jessica Paré here. I love the neckline, but why is the fabric something your grandmother would cover in a plastic tarp and call a sofa?

Rich Sommer looks dapper, and I love his wife Virginia Donohoe‘s glasses.

Jay R. Ferguson looks like he’s in vacation mode, and I’m into it, sexually.

Stephanie Drake‘s necklace might be a bit much, but I love the color.

John Slattery can scowl all he wants. Check out those sideburns.

Vincent Kartheiser really nailed the red carpet pose.

I think I’d look awkward in his position, too–it looks like his hair is growing back from when they gave Pete a sadly receding hairline. From a girl who’s constantly growing out bangs, let me just say that I feel you, Vincent.

Jon Hamm looks stricken and sexy.

I usually love Shipka, but that dress looks like it came from the sale rack at Forever 21.

    • Samantha Escobar

Teyonah Parris, Jessica Pare and Kiernan Shipka = faves. I really, really need to steal all their wardrobes.

    • Porkchop

Kiernan!! It’s not just the fashion and beauty. She has the best expressions on the red carpet, not humble or arrogant, just like, “Oh, hey, I’m awesome again.”

    • Lindsey Conklin

Teyonah Parris, Jessica Pare, Ben Feldman, Jon Hamm…look amazing. Why didn’t vincent bring alexis bedel?! And I’m with you on Elisabeth Moss’ makeup/hair!

      • Julia Sonenshein

        I know! WHERE IS RORY?

    • CMJ

I would like to throw Stephanie Drake’s pumps into a fire.

Christina’s outfit is fabulous and, I think, super fresh. And, Kiernan’s makeup is flawless; I also envy her brows.

        THOSE BROWS.

    • Valerie

Actually, I see a much larger owl with nipples for eyes on Alison Brie.

        I missed the bigger picture!

Kiernan beauty look is fantastic but I’m not sold on the dress. Does anybody besides me think January Jones looks like Daryl Hannah in that picture? All I see is Elle Driver. Probably just me though.

Dear God Teyonah Parris’s dress is complete perfection.
