Earlier this week, Kate Upton sparked a lot of conversation about the benefits and disadvantages of owning a pair of big boobs when she oddly revealed that she wishes for a smaller rack “every day of [her] life.” The supermodel recently chatted with an Australian radio show about (among other things) the public’s response to those comments, and she seemed pretty irritated by the host’s suggestion that she wants a breast reduction. According to Kate,
I actually didn’t ever say that. Yeah, no, I never said that. If somebody asked me this question and actually cared to hear what I have to say about my own personal body– isn’t that lovely, whenever media makes [things] up? It’s my body and I’ll tell you how I feel about it. Just ask me. I would say that I think all women sometimes don’t feel perfect, sometimes don’t feel their best, but I love my body. I always feel incredibly grateful for what I have, but there’s times when all women don’t feel their best.
I’m not sure if she’s denying having said anything negative about her breasts or if she’s just offended that people assume she wants surgery to remove them, but either way, Kate’s made it clear that she’d rather us all put this issue to rest. It’s true that swimsuit models open themselves up for people to comment on their bodies more often (those comments are responsible for their paychecks, after all) but since she’s made it obvious that she’s sick of this particular conversation, we should respect her enough to stop making assumptions. Kate was just trying to point out the way women are conditioned to believe that the grass is always greener, and it looks like her large breasts aren’t going anywhere.
