Alessandra Ambrosio Suffers The Wrath Of The Internet After Bringing Her 5-Year-Old Daughter To Coachella

Alessandra Ambrosio lives for Coachella. If she’s not the queen of the music festival, it’s just because Vanessa Hudgens is running around with hair chalk, six bindis, and an appropriated ritual headdress, and that’s tough to upstage. But Alessandra Ambrosio should basically just polish herself up and move into Coachella full-time at this point, and she could go ahead and bring her family with her.

Unfortunately Ambrosio is getting a lot of unasked for parenting advice from judgy Internet people for doing just that, because she brought her 4-year-old daughter Anja along to watch the shows and wear some tie-dye this weekend.

Small children are pretty much the only people who can dress like this and not look totally crazy, but of course the Internet needed to split in two and let forth howling commenters calling Ambrosio a bad parent for taking her kid to the festival. (For the record, children are allowed at Coachella. In fact, children under 5 get in free, and the Coachella forums regularly include discussions on how best to manage the festival with young children and strollers.)

But according to TooFab, Ambrosio’s Instagram was suddenly full of backseat parents condemning her for exposing a small child to the corporate fashion showΒ community theater production of HairΒ Sodom and Gomorrah that is Coachella.

“That’s terrible, I would never let me CHILDREN go to a festival where it’s gonna be surrounded by drugs and people on drugs, it’ll just make them curious,” one commenter opined.Β Others chimed in with comments like:Β ”You are such a bad parent for this,” “Who takes their child to Coachella? #badparenting” and “Not going to lie but inhaling all that weed, smoke, and dust storms is not for children.”

Personally, I’d be more worried about the negative effect of seeing a bunch of people running around in bindis and ersatz Native American feathered headdresses. But considering that Ambrosio is one of the patron saints of Coachella and exists in a glorified state within the roped-off VIP access areas and ultra-posh hotels, it seems like she knows what she’s doing better than a bunch of busybodies on Instagram.

I remember seeing a lot of kids during the day at Coachella! I mean, if they were hanging out at Flying Lotus at 2 AM I would’ve been worried, but if they’re just hanging out with their parents on a picnic blanket listening to something pretty kid-friendly, then it seems pretty normal. Plus, Ambrosio is wildly famous which means they get to be in VIP and that seems even safer and quieter.

      Saaaame.

Yeah. If it’s just a day trip and they’re properly supervised, I really don’t see the problem. Keep them an appropriate distance from the stage (small ears being damaged by loud music would be my greatest concern) and get them to bed at a reasonable time and all should be well.
Also, it takes more than just the mere suggestion of the presence of drugs to make a 5-year old “curious” about them. At that age, they’ll probably just think the park is full of funny people being funny.

I’m sure Alessandra Ambrosio was keeping an eye on her daughter (or at least someone was) β€” it’s not like she just dropped her kid off at Coachella and told her she’d be back in three days.

I mean – they definitely aren’t roughing it. The only issue I have is ear protection….I really hope she gave the kid earplugs.

We were gifted VIP seats to a kiddie concert last summer (Big Time Rush and Victoria Justice) so obviously the atmosphere was kid friendly but the NOISE! My kids would not keep the ear plugs in and I worried all night that I was making them go deaf. Lol.

You need good old ear goggles. They’re also very useful for the rides at Disney World and while watching fireworks. My kids have been wearing kiddie goggles since birth.

Pretty sure I have seen other celebs take their children to these things and wear those. I saw it all the time at Bonnaroo.

We could all use earplugs from nagging moms…

And I expected SO MUCH MORE from a woman who makes money from posing in her underwear for a living!

I’m bothered that the kid isn’t wearing protective earmuffs in the audience shot. I started going to rock concerts as an infant, and at the time not even my pediatrician knew that earplugs weren’t good enough, so I’ve had severe tinnitus as well as hearing loss, at least since toddlerhood. Everyone knows better now, and there is no excuse to risk her hearing.

Kids have SO MUCH FUN at festivals. Shame on her for allowing her kid to have fun. Music is the devil.

Cochella is nothing. What about the parents who take their young kids to Burning Man?! (Coolest parents ever.)
