For years, Jennifer Aniston has had some of the most desirable, beachy-blonde hair in the world, next to Gisele Bundchen. But now not only has she chopped off most of her length and layers to a short, blunt-cut bob, she’s actually gone and dyed her hair brown, and I’m surprised by how much I like it. I hadn’t realized how tired I was of the beachy, obviously highlighted blond hair, but then she came out with this sleek brunette style at a hair event in Boston this weekend, and she just looked so refreshing. I was impressed.
The darker color was first spotted on the set of her upcoming movie Cake, and even there, Aniston’s dark hair looked like a good change.
She’s supposed to look frumpy in her unflattering costumes for the movie, so Aniston’s regular glamour is toned down to zero here. But the dark hair still looks so much shinier than the obvious blond highlights, which were starting to look seriously dated. Then she came out with it all styled, straightened, shiny and pretty this weekend, and we were definitely converted to Team Brunette. (Elle has the pictures, and she looks fantastic.)
The darker hair color could well be part of the “frumpy” makeover for the movie, but I still think it’s a welcome change and hope she sticks with it for a while. Aniston really can make any hair look good (even the Rachel), and we like to see her changing it up every once in a while.
With Aniston on board, there’s really no question that the long bob (I am not calling it a “lob”) is the official haircut of 2014. Every celebrity has it. Is this enough peer pressure to convince you to get one? I’m definitely thinking about it, but I am probably not a good person to follow. I actually got the Rachel.
