Jennifer Lawrence’s Sheer Skirt Upstaged Even Her Gazillion-Dollar Earrings At Cannes

Jennifer Lawrence is having a good fashion run over at the Cannes Film Festival! Yesterday she made appearances at a slew of events to promote The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and there wasn’t a fashion disaster among them.

The white Dior crop top and mini skirt she wore yesterday to an afternoon photo call was a tough act to follow, considering that it was one of Lawrence’s best looks ever. But she kept it going through the evening’s more formal events and looked pretty amazing at the Hunger Games party in a sheer Dior dress and a gazillion dollars worth of emeralds on her head.

The blue crepe mini dress and sheer chiffon overlay are both Christian Dior, of course. Sheer skirts have been a big red carpet trend this season, enough so that we were starting to get pretty sick of them, but this one does not seem nearly so tired. It’s simple and unfussy, and layering it over that bright blue dress creates an interesting multi-tonal effect. (Also her boobs look fantastic. I would very much like to know what kind of underwear is under there.)

Lawrence’s hair is my favorite part of her Cannes appearances. Her hair team really seems to have a better sense of what to do with her choppy bob, and her hair and makeup have both been seriously on-point for the whole festival.

She wore it with an interesting assortment of rings and some very short, grayish-brown fingernails.

Of course the best thing about her look is probably those earrings. The emeralds look great with her eyes and are so much more fun than diamonds. Emeralds of that size almost certainly cost a gazillion dollars, so we just hope all the jewelers have increased security at the film festival after last year’s string of high-profile Cannes heists.
