The Red Carpet At The Pretty Little Liars 100th Episode Party Reminds Us They Only Play High Schoolers On TV

Pretty Little Liars 100th episode party

Confession time: one of my guilty pleasure shows has long been Pretty Little Liars, with its outlandish scenarios, teenagers who never seem to actually attend classes, and style that no eleventh grader could possibly obtain. And yet, it is so very addictive! That’s why it comes as no surprise that ABC’s hit show celebrated its 100th episode this weekend with a party fit for “A” queen. (Get it? A? Okay, I am awful at puns.) I have to admit, though, it is pretty surreal to see this set of four actresses who typically play high school students getting all dressed up and actually looking their ages. Let’s take a look at the four of them and see how their 100th episode outfits stack up to what their characters might wear, shall we?

Lucy Hale (24) is wearing a Tanya Taylor crop top and skirt combo that I feel like Aria would probably put on for a date at the beach or one of those high school parties I had no idea high schoolers actually have. I am positively loving the colorful shot of orange-red she injected to this look via her lipstick.

Ashley Benson (24) picked a white Camilla and Marc dress that didn’t seem to fit very well, which would not fly with her character Hanna.

Plus, she overloaded on the blush, which makes the apples of her cheeks almost look bruised here.

Shay Mitchell (27) upped the red carpet’s sex appeal factor with this little black dress from Cushnie et Ochs paired with pointed Manolo Blahnik heels. Given the sportiness of Emily on the show, I think the only way this look would’ve made it on the show is in some random “makeover” episode or a costume party; otherwise, Ms. Fields would likely turn it away for something a little more comfortable.

Troian Bellisario (28) wore my favorite look of the night: a stunning white Three Floor dress that I can definitely see her character Spencer wearing. The Alexandre Birman sandals add a fun touch, too, and her appropriately easy-going hair and makeup make this look a total win.

And now, for the rest of the cast…

I may not love the Aria/Fitz storyline, but is it weird that I’m just glad Ian Harding is only 27 so those scenes were probably not quite as odd to film IMO? Anyway, I am totally loving this white jacket. Goodness gracious.

Tammin Sursok, who plays Jenna, looked so appropriate for spring in this bubblegum pink frock!

Oh you know, just your daily reminder that Laura Leighton (who plays Hanna’s mom) is absurdly attractive and always will be, as if anybody even needed to be reminded.

Janel Parrish, the actress who plays Mona, overdid it on the prom hair and heavy makeup, but this dress still feels fun and salsa-inspired so I kind of love it regardless.

Dawww, Tyler Blackburn looks so different than his shifty hippie-ish rebel character Caleb in this all-black tux.

Sometimes I wonder how Sasha Pieterse feels about playing the dead girl, Alison, but then I see her lovely golden hair and I’m like “who cares, just send me your conditioner ASAP.”

Nia Peeples, who plays Emily’s mom, went along with the same theme that Shay Mitchell did: sexy and skin-revealing. And she did it so well!

How could anybody not have a crush on Lindsey Shaw? Seriously. She’s too cute. While I would’ve softened her makeup for this outfit, I think the pink corset top with black accents is an ultra-fun summer nighttime look.

Oh, BTW, this is the show’s costume designer Mandi Lane. She is just as incredibly stylish, stunning and striking as you would imagine given her fantastic creations for the show.

We’re fans of the PLL cast, with their outspoken discussions on eating disordersbody image and photo editing–even when the photoshop crimes are committed by the show itself–so it’s hard not to cheer for them no matter what. While we grumpy old people may instinctively brush the show off as being silly (I did even when I watched it), its stars are genuinely rad role models when it comes to problems plaguing teenagers today. So, congrats on the 100th episode, ladies! Keep up the solid work.

Shay Mitchell is so gorgeous it’s ridiculous.

Seriously. She also wears makeup so well. Some people’s faces just work wonderfully with beauty products and hers is one of them. (I assume being super hot helps.)
