How To Do A Fun Red, White & Blue Manicure Fit For The Fourth Of July

How To Do A Fun Red, White & Blue Manicure Fit For The Fourth Of JulyThis Friday is the Fourth of July, which means two things: I will be tweeting while tipsy starting around 1 PM, and I will be wearing a ton of red, white and blue. Americana colors have always been my favorite to wear, now including and especially the blue lipstick I showed you all yesterday, but I have never done that much with my nails for holidays in the past. But today, I want to do something super fun: a Fourth of July manicure. It’s an easy way to show off the flag’s colors while not going too over the top. Plus, it’ll match my blue eyelashes and red liner!

Instead of doing the same general design for all of my nails, I decided to go a little wild for this one. I did multiple designs, doing one step at a time per nail. I know not everybody likes the variety show look, so you can try them all or just pick your favorite! This would also work for supporting the US Men’s Soccer Team in the World Cup, though…well, you know. But you can still support them!

Step 1: Let’s start with red. Paint your nails with two coats of a bright shade of cherry red. I picked NYC New York Color Nail Polish in Madison Avenue (drugstores).

On your thumbnail and little finger, dot on spots of Dermelect ‘ME’ Peptide-Infused Nail Lacquer in Phenom using the end of a bobby pin. On your forefinger and ring finger, draw vertical lines approximately 1/3 the width of your nails down the middle.

I used Pure Ice Nail Polish in Pretty ‘N Patriotic. Using a skinny brush and silver polish, like NYC New York Color Nail Art Creation (drugstores), draw thin lines on either sides of your ring finger and forefinger’s blue lines.

For this purpose, I picked Sally Hansen Color Frenzy in Red, White & Hue, which is great because it adds tons of texture without being super shimmery or glittery.

I didn’t even know you can buy a speckled/confetti top coat, that looks so awesome!
