Outspoken wig sharer and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Chrissy Teigen is one of our favorite models. She’s just so cool and unguarded and says the most ridiculous things. She’s also ridiculously gorgeous, which is how she got a job as a professional model and gets to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. But in spite of her obvious gorgeousness, Teigen says she was once actually fired by Forever 21 for being too fat, of all the ridiculous things.
“I actually was fired from a job. Forever 21,” Teigen told DuJour magazine. “They booked me directly when I was much younger. I showed up on set and they asked me if they could take a photo and they shoot that photo off to my agency who then calls me as I’m sitting in the makeup chair and they say, ‘You need to leave right now. They just said that you are fat and you need to get your measurements taken.’ And I hate you, Forever 21. I hate you so much. Honestly, you’re the worst.”
Teigen should stand as a cautionary tale to stores everywhere. They should not hire gorgeous models like Teigen and then fire them for being too fat, because the models might grow up to be famous, outspoken supermodels who aren’t afraid to put them on blast in front of everybody. This story just makes Forever 21 look terrible, while Teigen’s willingness to say things like, “I hate you, Forever 21. I hate you so much” on camera is one of our favorite things about her.
