10 Dior Dresses That Jennifer Lawrence Should Have Worn

Jennifer Lawrence dress Oscars 2014

Jennifer Lawrence is a brand ambassador for Dior. In addition to starring in the ad campaigns and attending fashion shows, one of the biggest perks of her job is getting to wear all of the stunning couture gowns. Jennifer has access to all of the newest, straight-off-the-runway styles that she can get tailored to fit her like a glove. While she may get first dibs on most gowns, she can’t wear the entire collection–that wouldn’t be fair to all of the other celebrities. There have been a few gorgeous Dior dresses that others have snagged, that I would have loved to see Jennifer wear. Alas, because we consider celebrities wearing the same dress to be a major fashion don’t, we never get to see the same gown twice on the red carpet.

These are 10 Dior gowns that I would still love to see Jennifer wear–and hopefully not trip in:

1. Allison Williams "Girls" Season Three Premiere - Arrivals

Allison Williams looks pretty in this embellished blue dress, but I think Jennifer would have gave it more of an edge. There’s nothing wrong with Allison’s look, I just feel like it’s missing that extra amazing shoe, or messy updo that Jennifer probably would have styled it with.

2.New York City Ballet 2013 Fall Gala at the David H Koch Theater Featuring: Natalie Portman Where: New York, NY, United States When: 19 Sep 2013 Credit: C.Smith/ WENN.com

How did fellow Dior ambassador Natalie Portman snag this color-blocked Dior couture gown? The idiosyncratic details (spikes) are something Jennifer would have loved, and they would have been the source of many great J.Law one-liners. Sadly, they were lost on serious actress, Natalie. Jennifer also would not have made the poor styling decision to detract from the dress with a chunky black watch–even if it was Dior.

3. Charlize Theron Oscars 2014 Dior Blue Gown

Charlize Theron is a big Dior fan. I love this icy blue off-the-shoulder dress she wore to Cannes in 2004. This was long before Jennifer’s Dior contract, but I can’t help but wonder how she would have styled it. The color would have really suited her and it is something she hasn’t worn before.

4.Carey Mulligan attends the Opening Ceremony and 'The Great Gatsby' Premiere

I can’t blame Carey Mulligan for not making this pale pink dress the best it could be. She had to deal with rain and attempting to work an umbrella on the red carpet–not an easy task. Taking that into consideration, I don’t think this near-white shade was the best choice for Carey. If J.Law was in her tan phase, she could have pulled off this light hue.

5.EE British Academy Film Awards 2014 - Red Carpet Arrivals

I don’t know if Jennifer would look better than the always flawless Lupita Nyong’o, but I think this emerald gown would look amazing on both of them. I also hope that since J.Law is a Dior ambassador, they would ensure the length wasn’t too long, like Lupita’s is, by a few inches. FYI: Jennifer did wear a red version of the gown to the 2013 Golden Globes which was tailored to perfection, but I still want to see the green.

6.

167730896JN00143_PUNK_Chaos I don’t know if anyone, even Jennifer, could make Ashley Olsen’s vintage Dior couture gown look best dressed list good, but I would like to see her try. If she wore a belt, or styled it as a very chic beach caftan, I think she could almost pull it off.

7.71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Given that Jennifer is prone to a mishap, or two, on the red carpet, I would have thought that this red dress and pants set, was designed for her–provided it was cut a few inches shorter. Emma Watson looked gorgeous in it, but why didn’t they give such a statement design to a brand ambassador, like Jennifer? I also don’t think shy Hermoine had the sass that Jennifer has to work this dress in the necessary way.

8.Jennifer Anniston at the We're the Millers Premiere Featuring: Jennifer Aniston Where: London, United Kingdom When: 14 Aug 2013 Credit: WENN.com

This printed Dior dress is really different from Jennifer Aniston‘s minimalist, California clean look, and I have a hard time buying it on her. I can picture it on the other Jennifer, and think she would balance the cuteness of the dress with the right amount of fashion-forward cool.

9.Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman

There are many old Dior couture gowns that I want Jennifer to dig out of the Dior archive and Nicole Kidman‘s gold lamé gown from the 2000 Oscars is one of them. She would obviously update the accessories for 2014, but she would also know how to pose where she wouldn’t look like she is missing a leg.

10. 488650657FB00403_Two_Days_O

Fellow Dior girl Marion Cotillard‘s dress is one of the more unconventional choices, but I think it has the potential to be quite nice, when styled correctly. Jennifer may do some crazy things (see: beard) but I think she–or her stylist–knows when to go wild with accessories, and when to tone things down. I would like to see Jennifer work this dress with minimal jewelry and a less cement block shoe.

Oh my God HOW have I not seen Natalie’s dress before? That might be my favorite thing she’s ever worn.
