If you thought a sports bra that could detect how effective your workout is was big doings, just wait: a group of scientists in Colombia has reportedly invented a bra that can detect breast cancer.

While the bra, of course, can’t detect cancer outright, it does use infrared sensors that can detect changes in breast temperatures, a symptom linked to breast cancerMaria Camila Cortes, an electrical engineering student at Colombia’s National University and one of the researches working on the bra, explained to  Fusion,

“When you have cells in your mammary glands that are anomalous, the body needs to send more blood to that specific part of the body, and the temperature of this organ increases.”

Basically, the bra will measure your breast temperature and somehow signal you to any irregularities. The bra is still in its testing stages, but the lab’s researchers say that, with no official name or release date, they can roll out the bra soon and mass produce it at an affordable price so that every woman can have access to this early cancer detection technology.

The bra, of course, will not replace regular medical breast cancer screenings and the expertise of medical professionals, but early detection can often mean the difference between being a cancer patient and a cancer survivor. So, until this bra does finally come out and become a must-have for women everywhere, we’ll just have to stick with smooshing our boobs into mammograms. I’ll let you decide which option sounds less painful.
