In Newsweek‘s current cover story, Katie Roiphe has noticed a dangerous trend in working women. Mainly, she thinks that all of our success and confidence is making us yearn for a simpler time when men were in charge. Roiphe contends that spanking and submissive fantasies in women are pervasive and widespread, based mostly on the popularity of HBO’s new series Girls and the novel 50 Shades of Grey.

The problem is that sexual fantasies and preferences have absolutely no bearing on how a person wants to be perceived in the world around them. Topless Protesters At Davos Fight The Power With Two Weapons Each

Would you be willing to take your top off in freezing cold weather for justice? Topless members of the Ukrainian protest group FEMEN showed up at Davos this week to protest the oppression of the poor. Their slogan: “Our God is woman, our mission is protest, our weapons are bare breasts.”

FEMEN have been around since 2008, and the group has a history of showing up at major events and stripping down in protest of whatever’s bothering them: censorship, Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin, and domestic violence, among other issues. More »

This Woman Just Got Fired Through Facebook

Carol Bartz got fired over the phone a few months back but getting fired through Facebook is actually worse. I mean, it’s Facebook. It is one thing to be fired for your comments that you make on it, but to actually get the message through this particular social medium is really upsetting. Even LinkedIn would be better. A woman named Angel Clark, a talk radio host, was fired by the station WGMD on her Facebook account. The basic gist just thanked her for her time with the station and that they were moving in a different direction. More »
